Officers responded to a location on Overlea Street just west of Highland at 11 a.m.According to witnesses, two masked man committed a home invasion. The witnesses told ABC Action News two men inside a home were injured.Family members identified one of the men as 38-year-old Justin Austin. Austin’s family members say he was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the back. He was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical center where he was pronounced dead.Police say the second man was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.According Rob Shaw, public relation spokesperson for Clearwater PD, the second man said he was shot, but first responders could not find any wounds.Police say a female was also in the house, but was not hurt. Family members identified the female as one of the victim’s girlfriends.Police are looking for two males who fled in a maroon car.Investigators do not believe this was a random crime.
