That’s the reason it was heart wrenching for 38-year-old Alfred Lester’s mother to find out her son was shot to death exactly 21 years to the day after her other son was gunned down.Tampa police responded to several gunshots being fired at the Grand Reserve Apartments in Tampa Palms early Tuesday morning.”The suspect arrived at the location. Some sort of argument ensued between the suspect and the victim, said Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis.That’s when police say the suspect 48-year-old Orin Bivens shot and killed Alfred Lester.Neighbor Samar Bazzi heard the gunshots, “I was trembling because it was so near, so I saw my neighbors running to see what’s happening so that’s why I got out of the car and I saw the guy laid down up the stairs. I don’t know what happened and we saw the other guy who shot him, he said, ‘You can call the cop now.'”The victim, Lester, was recently married to Ava Marie. She was divorced from the gunman Bivens. However, Bivens still came to the home often because the couple shared two sons, according to neighbors.”He was a good father. We saw him, we don’t know him really but he was a good father, everyday he come and see his child, his children, drop them and take them back and everyone was so surprised such an incident,” Bazzi said.”There was a 13-year-old child in the home who is OK. He was not injured. We do not know at this point what he witnessed or not,” Davis explained, since the teen was inside the home and the shooting took place outside in the stairwell.Ava Marie was reportedly at work when the shooting took place. Her ex-husband Bivens is now charged with second-degree murder.The victim’s family says that Alfred’s brother was shot and killed 21 years ago while he was in the back seat of a cab during a robbery. They say he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
