.A 61-year-old man was fatally shot by robbers this week while mowing his grass in South Florida, according to WPLG . His friend returned to finish the lawn Wednesday out of respect. “I am finishing the job a good man started,” his friend Marty Taylor-Bey told WPLG. “I have love and respect for the family here.” Curtis Smith was doing yard work on his day off from work when he was ambushed about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday outside his Miami Gardens home, WPLG reports. The robbers were after a gold chain Smith wore at the time. Watch the story from WPLG below  Smith ran to his driveway, neighbors told the station, but he didn’t make it inside his home. Detectives are reviewing a neighbor’s surveillance video of the attack. Smith worked as a respiratory therapist at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. In a statement the hospital told the station Smith had worked in the health system for 29 years.
